Tanzania is one of the best places in the world to see the "Big Five" animals, a term originally coined by big-game hunters to describe the five most difficult animals to hunt on foot. Today, it is used to refer to the five most iconic and sought-after wildlife species on safari:
.Lion – Known as the "king of the jungle," lions are often spotted in large prides across the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
.Leopard – Elusive and solitary, leopards are best seen in areas like the Serengeti, often resting in trees during the day.
.Elephant – Africa's largest land animal, elephants roam in large herds, especially in Tarangire National Park.
.Buffalo – African buffalo are found in huge numbers and are known for their unpredictable nature, seen widely across Tanzania’s national parks.
.Rhinoceros – The rarest of the five, both black and white rhinos are critically endangered. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the few places in Tanzania where black rhinos can still be seen in the wild.
